Our Vision, Mission, and Goals

Our Vision

Make Malaysia a country with zero road traffic fatalities

Our Mission

To lead and coordinate national efforts towards eliminating road traffic fatalities and serious injuries by fostering a culture of shared responsibility and promoting holistic improvements in road safety throughout Malaysia

Our Goals

The goals of the Majlis Keselamatan Jalan Raya Malaysia (MKJR) are to:

  • Educate all road users on shared responsibilities, human vulnerability, and safe behaviours within the transport system.
  • Disseminate evidence-based information widely on road safety risks, effective interventions impacting roads, speeds, vehicles and users, and progress towards national safety targets.
  • Promote Compliance with traffic laws and regulations, particularly those concerning speed, impairment, and the use of protective equipment, as crucial for achieving road safety outcomes.
  • Stimulate Safe Infrastructure: Actively stimulate and advocate for best practices in the design, engineering, operation, and maintenance of roads and roadsides that forgive human error and enhance protection for all road users.
  • Advise Government on national road safety policies, legislation, strategic priorities, funding allocation, and performance monitoring necessary to effectively reduce fatalities and serious injuries.
  • Strengthen State Road Safety Councils so they are impactful and effective, and their efforts align with national road safety goals.
  • Maintain strategic liaisons and partnerships with national and international road safety organisations, research bodies, NGOs, and industry stakeholders to share knowledge, promote best practices, and foster shared responsibility for safety outcomes.
  • Collect and manage funds, including grants and donations, transparently and effectively to support the implementation of MKJR’s objectives and national road safety initiatives.
